Freestyle

I think cinema as a whole is such a beautiful thing. It is an escape for me, at least. A lot of the times, I find myself getting buried by the things that don't make me happy. However, no matter where I am or what is happening with my life, I always find joy when I have a camera un my hand. When me and my friends think of an idea or see a certain shot is when I really feel like myself. Furthermore, I feel as though I have definitely found myself in my camera. My philosophy on life is to find what makes me happy, and immerse myself in that. Whenever I am out taking pictures or filming my next short, or anything with a camera in my hand, I am completely n the moment. I hate how invested I am into my phone, and movie making seems to be one of the few cures to that sickness that I can find nothing wrong with.

Rough Theatre

I think my rough theatre is photography. When I go out to shoot, I am often times presented with a rough atmosphere, between the cars, people, and environments I put myself into. With my photography, and rough theatre, it is about finding the little things that make me happy and that I enjoy. Within this wild world of turmoil, whether physical or metaphysical, we have got to take some time and smell the roses. (If I may piggy back off of Ferric Beuller, here.) A lot of times, I find myself as well as my friends getting caught up in the dirt of life, if you will. However, with my photography, myself and the model seem to dance with each other and play off of a certain type of philosophy. This philosophy is to find the beauty in a rough environment and to rejoice in the little pockets of happiness and joy we run across.

Ratings of Assignments 1-10

Ratings 1-6 (favorite to least favorite) 1. Bolex Long Take - I really, really loved this assignment. I had never worked with a Bolex before and actual film development, so this was a cool experiment for me. This was probably the most enjoyable part for me in regard to the assignment as well as the class. It forces one to plan and make sure you know exactly what you want out of a shot before the record button is pressed. I feel as though I have been lulled into a sense of complacency in today's digital world, so to take a step back and see how it originally began felt like I went back in time a little bit and got in touch with the root of film. Actual film! 2. Direct Address Video Letter -I had never done anything like this before and it was really interesting to figure out how to write a letter to myself. I had a lot of things going through my mind when this assignment was presented and the restrictions you used cultivated creativity. I wasn't able to use conventional me
